Meet time, place and directions to be provided later: The exact fixture and time will depend on the temperature, but will be within a 30 minute drive from Ridgecrest and Inyokern.  Anticipate and early start to allow the 4-5 hour drive to Santa Ynez.  Stirrup cup and hunt breakfast will be provided.  Please call to confirm location or check the webpages a few days before the meet.   http://www.harriers.net/whct05.html

Stabling:  Go to www.visitdeserts.com, click on the camping link for contact information for stabling at Desert Empire Fairgrounds ($10 per night, typically no reservations needed, you feed and muck, etc).  For full service boarding, contact D J McKernan (760) 375-7146 or Billie & Shirley Raglin (760) 375-4798.  No lease horses are available in the valley.

 

Dinner Monday: Please join us for an informal dinner at Bernadino’s Restaurant in Inyokern at 6:30pm.  You can’t miss it as this is the only restaurant in downtown Inyokern.  You are also welcome to visit the kennels anytime.

 

Hunt Country:  The country is Mojave desert along the Eastern Sierra Nevada with sandy footing and no fences.  The quarry is blacktailed jackrabbit.  Average spring temperatures range from 45-80.  Wildflowers should be spectacular this spring due to heavy winter rains.

 

Cap: All riders are expected to pay routine capping fees except on days when they are hosting the meet.  All capping fees will be donated to the Hound Found and will go to the Winning Hunt’s Charity of choice. 

 

Directions from Los Altos Area: Take Interstate 5 or highway 99 south to Bakersfield (from 5 you will need to take 46 or another route east to 99).  At Bakersfield, take 58 East to Mojave (~55 miles).  Exit onto highway 14 North towards Bishop.  At ~45 miles, take highway 178 East to Inyokern/Ridgecrest. 

 

Directions to SantaYnez: Reverse above directions to Bakersfield, take 99 South ~20 miles to CA166.  Take 166 West ~100 miles to Santa Maria.
