See the rest of my pack

I get my name from my great-grandmother, Rockwood Hurry, not because I run all over the place. Usually I'm a very easy-going girl - calm, thoughtful, and not wanting to get into trouble.

My favorite buddy is Mitchell; we always play and wrestle, ever since we were little pups. I used to be bigger than him, but now he's grown up and surpassed me. That's ok though, 'cause I can still outsmart him! Mitchell's my best friend, except when he tries to eat my dinner! Then I make a mean face at him and growl grrrrrrr! I'm a slow, picky eater, so I don't gobble my kibble like some other members of my pack do (right Hardwick - he's not a chowhound either.

Donna likes to take me to fun places on the weekends, where there's all kinds of strange dogs and lots of neat smells (and if you're lucky you can find yummy bits of liver on the ground!). I think she calls them Dog Show Offs (I like to show off, so that must be it). We ride in the car for a long time (Mitchell always gets carsick or pees - yuk, what a grubby, gross boy!), then Donna lugs all this junk around and gets us out of the car. Then we hang out for a while, and maybe play with some other Harriers. Then Donna gets all nervous and starts brushing us and cleaning our faces (she doesn't even use her tongue like a real mom!) and we put on pretty shiny collars with little thin leashes. Then we get to Show Off for a nice lady or a man. I try to give them kisses when they bend down to look at me, then they pet me all over. I like that part. Sometimes Donna gives me yummy pieces of food that she keeps in her pocket. Then I get to trot about on the grass with Donna. She always pats my chest and gives me kisses and hugs when we're done, even if the nice lady doesn't give her a piece of ribbon. I'm not sure what it is, but sometimes Donna gets really happy over those bits of cloth. They don't taste or smell good, and they're not sturdy enough to be a good tugtoy, so I don't know why she likes them so much. After a long car ride home, we are allowed to get dirty again! Yeah!!

Best of all! I get to go chase jackrabbits with the rest of my pack and John. I tend to hang back a bit and let the others find them first, but I get in on the chases and specialize in finding them again when they vanish.
