Mr Oakleigh Thorne (1910 - 27)

16 couples were purchased from Hawkins Hariers in England in 1912. More Harriers brought over in 1920. Eventually Mr Thorne had 50 couples of Harriers hunting hare. The pack was later split into one group hunting both hare and fox and one hunting hare only. Pack converted later to Virginia Foxhounds presently hunting fox and coyotes. The Millbrook, and the present Oakleigh Thorne family still hunt the same area with a separate pack of "Hare Hounds" comprised of Beagles and Bassets.

This Hunt dates from 1920 - present. They had Harriers from at least 1929 to 1942 when the Harrier pack was discontinued. The hunt was completely reorganized in 1947 and presently are English & cross-bred Foxhounds.

Mr Haskell took over the Monmouth County Draghounds (unknown type) in 1932. He imported from many English Harrier Hunts and also from Mr Reynal. Some of the imports were from "West Country" packs. At their peak, this most famous US Harrier pack had 50 couples hunting Belgian Hare. After Mr Haskell's death in 1964, the pack converted slowly to Foxhounds and by 1970 had only 1/2 couple Harriers. Presently American, Penn-Marydel & cross bred Foxhounds hunting fox although Master and Hunstsmen still wear the Harrier green.

In 1948 the Nantucket had 14 Couples "American Harriers" bred mostly from big Beagles. Hunt was recognized by the Masters of Foxhounds Association of America, but Hounds were inelligible for registration. The Nantucket Beagles merged with the Treweryn Beagles in 1964. In the early 70's they hunted jack rabbits on Nantucket all summer and cottontail fall and winter in Pennsylvnia. Present pack hunts in Virginia and West Virginia.

Mr Reynal's Harriers

Mr Eugene S Reynal

Mr Reynal had a pack of Beagles and converted to Harriers imported from England as he grew older and was no longer able to follow on foot. He hunted the same country as the Millbrook and produced CH Mr Reynal's Monarch. The pack was registered with the AMHB.

The Wayne and Dupage hunts merged in 1940 and slowly converted from English Foxhounds to Harriers. In 1948 they had 1.5 couple English Foxhounds and 6 couples Harriers. CH Tyburn Wayne-Dupage Music was champion bitch hound at the 1965 Bryn Mawr Hound Show. Presently American Foxhounds hunting drag with occasional Fox hunting

Mr E W Clucas

This notable Beagle pack changed its name to Whiteoakes Harriers in 1933. Mr Clucas in his advancing age found he could follow better on horseback and switched to faster hounds. The pack was bred to larger size and mixed with Harriers and later English Foxhounds.
